Burwash Ontario was originally founded in 1914 as a minimum security, self sufficient correctional facility located ~20km south of Subdury. Camp Bison was one of three camps located within the "industrial farm" to house the low risk inmates. The building is still structurally sound, but vandals continue to smash anything and everything possible. At the time we visited (spring) the road in was quite muddy and flooded in areas. A 4x4 vehicle is definitely required. The building itself was larger then expected, and had a great view from the roof! A water treatment building and well as a pumping station still stand, while all other buildings have collapsed/demolished.
